Magic Mirror
Gave this one a little extra time since I'd been out for so long. Feels kinda weurd writing without having Neji already have a post. Heh, that's perfectly fine. I've been slacking pretty badly on my own writing.
Anyhow... There's this interesting thing we have. It's called a mirror and let's you see how yuou look in the morning. You can check your hair and teeth. Pretty handy thing all in all. Do you ever wonder about what's on the other side. I mean in a creepy way. Ever see that little flicker of movement that you couldn't quite make out. Whn you look into your eyes are they really your eyes? Or do they belong to something malevolent trying to spook you from the depths of that two dimensional space between a pane of glass and a reflective backing?
I've seen it. But it's never really bothered me. I give it a look smirk at Mr. Bogeyman and say to "Sod off Chummer, you don't bother me." And until he/it decides to come out of that mirror to meet me I'm going to keep laughing at it and ignoring its pathetic attempts to intimidate me. Is that foolish? Have I angered the demons of the mirror. Maybe it's just a playful sprite wanting to make a bit 'o mischchief.
Eh whatever... I've gotten over my issues. I used to stare into the mirror a long time. Just standing and staring wondering what people think when they see me. If they looked down at me or even gave a shit. These days I could care less what they think. I know what I think and that's all that truly matters. If the rest of the world has an issue with that they can tell it to me face because I'm done staring in the mirror.

Mirror
Mirror, Mirror on my wall,
Oh, have I always been so small?
Harshly there you gleam for me
Is this, too, what all others see?
Mirror, mirror, shining cold
You know me when I’m not so bold
You watch me naked from my bath,
Reflect my most ungentle laugh
Mirror, mirror, damn your face
You rob me of the smallest grace
My awkward mornings you remit,
Never softening ev’n a bit.
Mirror, throwing off my mask
To show the grate of life’s cruel rasp
All the lies we tell to others
Lie bare and bald, never to smother
Mirror, mirror, callous trickster
candid friend or foe sinister
Showing all my outer flaws
Display so harsh my lines and scars
Mirror, waiting at my bidding
Do you also see what’s hidden?
Are these eyes that look at you
Reflecting now my soul in truth?
Mirror, ripping me of pride,
Is darkness in your inverse side?
Do you delight in what you see?
Do smiles and tears glow equally?
Mirror, I have posed these riddles
‘Til my mouth is dry and brittle
Do we all stand, your moving captors,
In death, our ghosts reflecting after?
Mirror, striking paradox
You’re mercury within a box
I reach for you with shaking hand
Compelled to try to understand.
Mirror, touching you at last
I find that you are only glass.
My hand against your face grows cool
Your timelessness reflects a fool.
Mirror, never changing else,
You show but what I’ve wrought, myself.
Whatever failings that I see
Are but my hand’s own eulogy.
But Mirror, writ as I by God,
We both are things deserving laud.
You do aught but which you were meant.
Perhaps I’ll too, and now relent.
