Is there anyone actually out there reading? Do people get notified if my words appear to cascade forth once more from the abyss? It's been just over two years since I last left words public in this place for all to see. And it has been an exceedingly busy/crazy two years. I am no longer working retail. (I just re-read my rant on that and, wow, was I an angry lil man)

I am not working in the field in which I received a college Bachelor's degree in. But hey I'm paying my bills better that retail did. For the record I work in a CNC machine shop now. We produce parts from raw material (metal mostly, some plastic) for our various customers. Many of which are oil field related. It's Louisiana, what else is there around here? I've been doing this for about a year and a half now I suppose. The job is interesting on many levels. It requires me to use critical thinking, problem solving, and creative solutions. It find much of what we do rather fascinating. This is of course a good thing. For there is no amount of money really worth it if you hate your job.

There, however, has been some BAD happenings in my life as of late. In February a drunk driver rna a red light and hit my car. I had a passenger who was mildly injured and myself who received a triple fracture of my collarbone. Had I been 2-3 feet farther into the intersection the truck would have crushed into my body directly. As is the bastard totally destroyed my car. My less than a year old 2007 model car. I am very displeased with that fact. That fact almost more so than the personal injury. In any case I was out of work for 3 months while I healed and I'm not back.at work, only been 2.5 weeks. Talk about tiring.

Anyhow I'm rolling out. later. and lets hope I write more.

Magic Mirror

Gave this one a little extra time since I'd been out for so long. Feels kinda weurd writing without having Neji already have a post. Heh, that's perfectly fine. I've been slacking pretty badly on my own writing.

Anyhow... There's this interesting thing we have. It's called a mirror and let's you see how yuou look in the morning. You can check your hair and teeth. Pretty handy thing all in all. Do you ever wonder about what's on the other side. I mean in a creepy way. Ever see that little flicker of movement that you couldn't quite make out. Whn you look into your eyes are they really your eyes? Or do they belong to something malevolent trying to spook you from the depths of that two dimensional space between a pane of glass and a reflective backing?

I've seen it. But it's never really bothered me. I give it a look smirk at Mr. Bogeyman and say to "Sod off Chummer, you don't bother me." And until he/it decides to come out of that mirror to meet me I'm going to keep laughing at it and ignoring its pathetic attempts to intimidate me. Is that foolish? Have I angered the demons of the mirror. Maybe it's just a playful sprite wanting to make a bit 'o mischchief.

Eh whatever... I've gotten over my issues. I used to stare into the mirror a long time. Just standing and staring wondering what people think when they see me. If they looked down at me or even gave a shit. These days I could care less what they think. I know what I think and that's all that truly matters. If the rest of the world has an issue with that they can tell it to me face because I'm done staring in the mirror.

Relapse the Ninja speaks

Ninja Hiatus

After two weeks of no topics time to get back into the groove. There's been a recent meme going around that I found rather amusing. Basically you open whatever music media player you have on your computer set it to random and open your entire library. There's a list of questions you can ask and then hit forward. The song that comes up is the 'answer'. It is very very odd how creepily accurate or relevant the response gets at times.

Also you can make up your own questions... like hmmm "What will be my last thought before I die?" iTunes response just now for that is... 'It's my Life' By Bon Jovi(acoustic version). See oddly interesting and accurate. My playlist is huges... just over 1500 songs so its got a very nice variety. From Rock to classical and all between with odd sidetracks into bizarre and wonderful. Just like me... so yeah!

Neji's Response

llemaire's Response

Next thought from my head

Ok here's the deal. While often very useful in most situations if it is not carefully monitored it cvan completey destroy a play ennvirornment. It is the MacGuyver Playertype. For every situation there is a solution that can be cobbled together from bits and pieces of anything he may find. It is the danger of a slow powercreep where a GM may suddenly find he is no longer controlling the world... the world is reacting to the player.

The second is the Rules Lawyer. Any note and errata ever made is memorized and kept on file to use against the GM when he desires. His piles of books are only there to support his rigid desire for a perfectly controlled situation where he may exploit or defend his position in the game.

The third is the Min/Maxer also known as Das Munchkin. This gamer builds his character thinking in terms of numbers. It's like the matrix. It's not a person its a line of code that he manipulates so that it does something fantastically. Usually this is combat... other times manipulation of other people. Either way this single minded focus on one thing creates an imbalanced character and ruins play experience for others.

The last and possibly the most frustrating of Gamer types is the UBER. He's a combo of all the rest using rules, minmaxing techniques, and quite often simple pulling of items/skills/abilties out of ass-space. There is nothing in your campaign that can combat him.. and creating such a thing would ultimately destroy the rest of the party/players. If you don't want to read a rather vehement rant concerning retail, its customers, and those people that run such businesses. Just move one.... Do not pas go. Do not collect $200.

Ok let's start at the base
Customers
Ok this may or not apply to you, dear reader. You are not the only person in the store. I don't mind helping you and explaining things, but when I take you to an item and explain some of the item's feature's and you just stand there staring... What am I supposed to do? Walking away would be rude. Some form of acknowledgement would be very nice. This is the least of my quibbles really. I've been in retail for some time and I've developed a few major peeves concerning my work. Let us review.

1) If you pick something up. PUT IT BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT.

2) I understand your need to physically hold the item you want (regardless of the PICTURE of said item on the front) But if you open the box PAY ATTENTION to how the item came out so that when you decide to put it back in the box, you do so correctly.
-- Addendum! If you do open a box and make a purchase of that item. TAKE THE GODDAMN BOX YOU OPENED AND DON'T LEAVE ALL THE CRAP ALL OVER MY STORE.

3) Talking is nice. I enjoy having conversations. But I don't need to hear your daughter/son/nephew/neighbor's ex-wife's life story as a background for why you need to buy a certain thing. It really isn't necessary.

4) Asking me if I have a certain item. When I reply politely that we don't carry that item. Rephrasing your question and adding in more descriptions will not change my answer. Unless you just really suck at describing it the first time. Think about that for a bit.. mmkay?

5) Shopping by phone is the most annoying thing in the world. I am not your personal shoppper and I will not go around picking all your merchandise out so you can just walk in and pick it up. Don't be lazy and get your ass up and into the store and shop like the rest of the idiots.

6) My store's return policies are clearly posted. If you don't have a reciept you deal with the consequences. As is our return policy is fricking too lenient. If you lose your reciept or wait too long you will NOT get cash back I don't care if you used a creditcard/check and can show the cancelled check or credit card bill. IT MATTERS NOT! We need the reciept to refund your damn money.

And this went on longer than I thought So I'm gonna quit now and save discussion of the work envirornment and company policies for another rant.

New topic- Oppurtunity to Rant

ok ok here we go again. there haven't been any new takers in my expiriment as of late ;_;
but I'll keep posting this just in case. Well I'm here now to make up for it. The river runs... where does it go.. down and around so nobody knows. Yeah is lame but my mind produces random thoughts and twists that desire.. no DEMAND to be written. And who am I to disobey my Muse. So I find my thoughts flowling free like an undammed river. Swift and capricious at times. Shallow in the beginning only to become wide and deep when you reach the end of it. My free range thougts are often fairly amusing and quite silly... My job affords me plenty of time to simply meander and wander about finding bits of strange humor or into darker broody type thoughts.

And then they think of things that makes me seriously ponder my sanity. though that's less actual thoughts and just random little things I'll do while sitting alone at home. I think I have issues. So I sit and my brain flows away and I sit and go... "ye know that was pretty messed up. I'd but a Pysch doctor would love my head." But that's not gonna happen and I feel just fine without mental prodding.

So what -would- happen if my mind's river were Dammed up and not free flowing. Ok visualise. All those thoughts filling a deep pool behind this giant construction built to keep things there and only let a little out at a time. those thoughts mixing in with other thoughts. Swirling dancing and just.. being constrained and kept together. Would they mutate into new things? good bad evil or simply strange. I really don't know. but hey. That's a the thought of the day!

One other stab at the topic.

Neji's - A River Runs Through it

Weekly Thought!

If you're new to this.

Check this out first!

Well I was wrestling with a topic and my brain refused to come up with something strange, witty, or terribly thought provoking. The more RAM you have the more programs you can run without significant slowdown of your machine. And I need lots more RAM but not necessarily for my computer (though more would be really nice).

No I want more RAM for my brain. See if I had more RAM I could delegate certain things to that rather than trying to write it all to my harddrive which sometimes feels rather overloaded. It could also be useful for storing certain ahhh imagry that inconsiderate friends may insert into your brain. Hey it's just RAM it'll get written over or dumped quickly. That... that would be a handy feature indeed I think. Instead right now they just burn into my brain in a permanent nature. Why can't the good things. The things I need to remember get etched so vividly into my head? Must be the shock value.

What about other computer functions? Would my brain work faster if I could defragment my memory? Clean up memory? Though I suppose the differences between a computer and my brain can be relieving. I don't want to try to install the *$%@#-*$#%#@ ing drivers for any new skill I learn. Curtains falling show is over and its time to move on. The real trick is to know when that time is. I've been accused of bating a dead horse. I've looked back on my life and I can see times where I should have left well enough alone. But hindsight is 20-20, perhaps even better. So one must ask oneself...

How can I learn to detect that curtain so I'm not caught in front of it when it falls and keep myself from making a total ass of myself?

There's no real answer to that I think. Experience is the only true teacher in an arena of life and I guess I'm just a really slow learner. I sometimes can sort of sense it. Take my bow and head off to await the next 'show'. But did I really catch it on time.. perhaps just a bit longer and the 'show' could have been fantastic. What ifs, coulda beens, and possibilities plaugue the mind and you begin to doubt your own thoughts even.

Fear is a huge motivator in the everday lives of people. We fear what will happen if we don't work, get a paycheck, or create our own future. It cripples and motivates people all at once pushing them to do things and keeping them from attempting others. Its good and bad all in one. So we live.. we cope with it in all its forms. Perhaps its not even recognizable as fear in some of its forms. It turns into duty and responsibility for some people.

I don't know anymore and I'm ramblings.... so here shall be the end.

Neji's Shadow - The Curtain has Fallen
The Mad Monk - Back with a Bang

Topic 4 -yes its late

Again. A response from a person with whom I've never had an actual conversation with. While that in itself fills me with.. hmmm joy.. no that's not right... ah! satisfaction. Yes it gives me some satisfaction. I see the empty responses I'd hoped from others. Hoped perhaps more than I should. I know everyone has busy lives and sometimes the muse just doesn't strike(Especially when the topic is as.. odd as this). So now I feel like a turn of the screw has been made on this little project.

Nevertheless I shall continue on with my words and my offer for people to join in on this merry little ride. So... to the topic... A screw. What is it? It is a device once used to pull water from areas of digging in an ingenous way that Archimedes invented. It is a small piece of metal which firmly holds two seperate pieces of whatever together. It is also a word used as a vulgarity. It's a noun and a verb and dependent on how you end it a descriptor as well. What an odd language english truly is. I won't go on about that... George Carlin did that bit to death I think.

I am often without a powerdrill so when I'm faced with having to use a screw to screw something in. I find I may be screwed depending on how screwy the design of whatever screwed up thing I'm putting together. See.. see!

This post did not at all come out how I envisioned. Ah well thats kinda the point of this exercise. Anyhow Adieu until next time fair readers.

Neji's lone response - So dark... perfect!
Laurie-Faye's post --- Sadly Friends only Journal
evilcarp - The fishie has spoken

yay late additions!

Three.. three topics.. So its my turn to explore my mind once again. My family is something I have to consider long and hard about on occaision. I love my parents and my two sisters of course. And we get along well. It's strange though... I'm not even sure I should put this in a public place but... Well I dislike not being totally honest when I write... Sometimes I feel like there should be more of a bond between me and them but its not there... And I know its not thier fault. There's something wrong with me. But alot of times I'm not sure I feel the same emotional range as other people and it scares me. Regardless though that's my immediate blood family... past that... The peopel of my relation often times seem to be more of simple aquaintences than family. My close friends I consider as much family as anyone else. The Mad Monk in particular is a brother to me.

Strangers on the other hand... well I enjoy scaring them or just making them really really confused by my unexplainable and odd behaviors. If they can get past preconcieved notions they may make enough of a leap to befriend me. If not well they can bugger off.. Can't take a joke.. bu-bye... can't see the humor in laughing at your own self... sorry I just gotta get the check please. This perhaps limits my ability to make friends.. Wow I have really not even given this any thought whatsoever. So I guess that means I'll do exactly what I did when I had this sort of thing to do in college. I'll simply ramble on leading in and out of coherency. I'll type this out exactly as I think. Which also means you'll get to see the wonders of my brain first hand. Hey that coincides nicely with 'my world' !

.oO(I'm so better at this than I thought)Oo.

My world is full of stresses and would be strangulations that are only avoided by an ironwill, the need for my job(money), and the decision that spending my days in a jailcell would really suck. If you don't know or wonder why my job causes such frustration I'll give you a hint. it's called RETAIL. Thankfully that is not the whole of my world. My world also contains excellent friends, the love of music, fantasy, science fiction, and just strange weirdness and people. Though hopefully in relation to the job part that may be changing soon. I just need to get over my writers and artistic block so I can produce a nice looking cover letter and resume. I wonder why I never hear of Trucker's block or Lawyer's block (Thanks Relapse). Anyhow I know of a job opening and I have someone inside that hopefully could put in good words for me.

So now your world. I often wonder about other people's experiences and how they see the world. Are they as cynical yet amused and optimistic as I am. Do they ever feel like everything else around them is just something fake and thier entire life up to know has been nothing more than some experiment or observation. Like the movie 'Truman' only less wholesome. My entire world is a fake holodeck projection and everyone knows it but me. And yes that is a very egotistical thought I know.

How do peopel reconcile thier worldviews and opinions about things when the plain facts and realities are staring them dead in the face. I'm not talking about religion or anything like that. I talking about simple easy to understand concepts. It seriously boggles my mind and I sit back and think... Am I like that? have I ever been so utterly bullheaded and ignorant in my world view? Perhaps I have at times, I certainly hope not. But at least I can sit back and contemplate the fact they I might be wrong about something. There are far too many people out there that absolutely refuse to admit they're wrong. Ah well... and it looks like I'm coming to a point where I should wrap up this little bit. So thank you for listening/reading this little rant and I hope you enjoyed it and it spurs you to join in for next weeks topic.

Coming soooon.

For the sake of completeness and ease I will add the direct links of other people's response at the bottom of this one.

Little Lost Soldier Girl- Semi-response
Neji's Shadow - Something I'm going along with

Annoyance

Ok can anybody tell me how to create a link in these things?

Anyone? It is an exercise in writing and perhaps a bit of self-exploration.

Each week I will post a topic. It may be something simple or sillylike, 'Where do you keep your thoughts?' Or perhaps a random phrase or quotation that caught my eye somewhere. What I'm asking you to do is simply write a response to that topic. The thing is: it need not be fully about the topic. Take the topic and just start writing whatever it brings to your mind as it comes to you. It is simply a starting point for you to begin at. No need to edit your thoughts just write it out as it comes to you. This is very much a stream of consciousness type of project. Preferrable lengths for this exercise would be roughly a page of type. But don't let that stop you from writing more or less.

Once you have your finished this exercise in wordsmithing post a link to it in this blog under the original topic. At which point hopefully wonderful discussions and back and forths may occur. Each week I will post my own response and a new topic to be had. My goal is to expand my own borders and hopefully help others with thier own. As well as learning more of each other's thoughts ideas and what reeeaally makes them tick >_> Of course this could completely flop and no-one will respond. But it is my hope that I see some responses.

REGARDLESS

ALL are welcome to join in on this exercise whether you know me.. or anyone else involved. All those interested.. send messages to your friends and see if they are as well.

The first topic to be posted very shortly!

Long live the Word!!!

My Muse - An Exercise

I was given a project by an english professor to describe my muse.... here you go

My Muse, how amusing. Sparkling lights, dancing colors, all those nifty possibilities that exist. She sings to me inspiring my work… my writings, my art… She must have a sense of humor… or a wonderful irony about her. She’ll abandon me at a whim hanging and dangling on a thread just for amusement… or force my words and pen strokes into areas I don’t really wish to go. Cold…hard… unforgiving at time… yet she’s also careful with me… delicate and gentle guiding my had to places un-thought of and wonderful.

A can never physically see her manifest… never had any thought of her appearance… though I’d imagine her tall and lithe, with long dark hair, and soft green eyes that slightly glowed with an eerie luminosity. Dressed in a flowing white gown that spreads like liquid silk around her feet. Her voice is melodic and musical that could calm any beast when she wishes and frighten any monster when she is angry. Her wail is like a banshee terrifying all who hear it… My ears could hear the wail as she flies off leaving me without my muse my fingers lost on the paper unable to decide where to go. I can beg and plead and search for her but it never works… she’ll only return when her whim suits it and my words will flow free again.

She returns with the full force of a hurrican pounding against and inside my head when I least expect it… I have to find paper and pencil… ANY paper and pencil… I’ve more than a few poems on register tape.

In short… My muse is a sadistic bitch.

creating habits

So it shall be my attempt to post in this little space fairly often. Hey I might even succeed at this habit. At least with a little encouragement I might succeed. I tried to make a habit of winning... but the lottery dashed my hopes in that.

At least winning is an occaisional happenstance from me. Just recently I feel like I did win the lottery in a way with the making of new aquaintences and friends. I am enriched and my life is better because of it. Of course lottery's always have a catch and this one did as well. But I am undeterred and unrelenting and friendship shall become strong and full.

Yay for being a stubborn Taurus.

Habits and back on track. Habits are hard to make.. and harder to break when you've made a bad one.

Booo for being a stubborn Taurus.

Anyhow hopefully this will stick and I'll write more than once every few months.

We'll see. The words that will eventually flow onto this page may not be fit for human eyes. I tend to write my mind. usually it comes out strange and random and wonderful. It occaisionally offends others. If you offend this easily... Do not worry for I am only one lonely voice in a sea of the 'Intarweb'. My views may not be right.. they may not be wrong, but they are certainly my own honest opinion. Unless I'm simply making a farce of something. In other words don't take me so seriously that little vien on your forhead throbs. Yes you... I'm talking to you. Even if you are so derned cute when angry. Just relax and smile.

Behold I am here to bring you words that fall and cascade freely from my fingertips.
